Post Your Desktop Screenshots!

Hello, All!

Here's a LL 2.0 beta screenshot from my HP netbook. The picture shows two USAF F-15 Eagles (three, most likely - after all, SOMEBODY took the photo!) from the 57th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, based at Keflavik Naval Air Station, Iceland, shadowing a Russian Tu-95 Bear bomber.

Back in the day, the AF wanted to send me there. Iceland was just too doggone cold, so since I had yet to re-enlist, I didn't have enough time to complete a tour there before my term of service ended. Therefore, they could not send me there. I later found out that they sent one of my tech school buddies there instead. (I hope he enjoyed himself there!)

I held out on re-enlisting until they offered to send me some place I was comfortable serving at for two years, which was Sembach AB, (West) Germany. I looked it up on Wikipedia recently, and found out that the US Army has now taken the base over. Germany kicked the US Army out of Mannheim (30 mi./50 km to the east), so they're moving the military prison there...

Linux Lite 2.0 (Clean):

In case anyone was wondering, I used an Xubuntu start icon for the Xfce Whisker menu.
No problem with the Linux Lite logo, it's just an aesthetic decision for the light panel.  Smile

Hello!

Yes, Neo - that DOES look good. Is there a way to 'package' some of these themes for others to enjoy?

Hi Rob, I'm not sure what the best way to package them is (I'm open to suggestions) but I will try to post everything I have used below in case it helps anyone!

1. Desktop > Background: The wallpaper is found here via the Quick Grab Wallpapers thread
2. Appearance > Style: The theme is MediterraneanDarkest, found from the MediterraneanNight Series (How to install themes/icons can be found at Help Manual > Install Guide > Themes & Icon Sets)
((I also edited some of the colours in the gtk files to make it slightly darker and match the wallpaper - not really sure what I was doing and it isn't necessary but in general I switched any bg_color I found to #000000 and any base_color to #070e14 - my files might not be perfect so I'll only upload them if you really want/need them!))
3. Icons: AwokenWhite - found from Awoken by Alecive on deviantART ("download the iconset" instructions worked best for me)
4. Mouse: OxegenNeon (I added the file to my .icons folder, then selected it under Mouse and Touchpad > Theme. This worked most of the time but I needed a bug fix here to make the mouse permanently change)
5. Window Manager > Style: Default; Title Alignment: Left
6. Window Manager Tweaks > Compositor: Enable display compositing and show shadows
7. Panel Preferences > Appearance: Solid Color (Black), Alpha 80%
8. Datetime > Right Click > Properties: Layout Format: Time, then date; Date Format: Custom, Enter "%a %d %b";
9. Whisker Menu > Right Click > Properties > Display: Select "Icon" only. Double click the icon and change it to one you prefer for the theme.
(Below are a few I customised in GIMP using the Linux Lite forum logo)
1. [Image: GQPJJQR.png]2.[Image: YAmu1og.png]3.[Image: 5QXhu8f.png]
1 and 3 are pretty see-through on the forum but will show up on a darker background e.g. this is 3 on black. [Image: 9YNkIHI.png]
I also gave this tux some Linux Lite wings while I was at it (this is also a non-functional requirement  :Smile)

10. That's all of the main stuff I can think of for now. Any other things I might have left out are probably achieved by similarly right clicking things and/or Googling as that is how I somehow ended up here. ;D But if anyone needs any more help I will try my best to point in the right direction!
