Linux Lite 3.0 based off Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
#1
Some early information. Historically speaking, there are always some pretty important bugs squashed after a major LTS release. Linux Lite 3.0 will be released as per the roadmap - https://www.freecinema2022.gq/forums/relea...e-roadmap/ This 8 week period gives the new LTS time to settle in and stabilize, as well as allowing us to release our well-known stable first release. The first Linux Lite Beta 3.0 is likely to be released 4 - 6 weeks after the 16.04 LTS release.

Is it too soon to make suggestions as to the format of  LL3.0; in particular loading/installation hardware compatibility and "included" content?

Yup, because we'll open a specific thread for that. 2.8 one is here - https://www.freecinema2022.gq/forums/sugge...on-thread/

As I understand it, a new LTS will result in the opportunity to consider major changes as opposed to a step by step approach within a given LTS?  A chance for a rethink/discussion / cross roads?  Also LL3.0 will require a fresh installation as opposed to an "Upgrade"?  Is that a correct understanding?

Just to follow on, having looked at the Ubuntu link, and it's incremental changes 14.04 > 15.10
Does that mean updating LL from 2.0 > 2.2~2.8 mean you have to upgrade to 3.0..??
or is 2.0 ~ 2.8 still LTS, and supported till April 2019

Maybe if there is nothing of great significance in 3.0,
then 2.x may serve many people till April 2019

@Jerry,
:-[ :-[ :-[
I guess I have become to complacent during installs
I did not read that bit about upgrades...

But regarding the LTS,
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS is shown till April 2019, or is that only for Ubuntu.?
I know you will be doing series upgrades every 2 years
But could I stay on 2.8 till 2019.?

You are free to stay on LTS for as long as you choose to.

@Jerry,
I'm sure 3.0 will be great...
