I've come up with a few desktop enhancements id like to see in LL. These are on the relatively minor side, and may be beyond the scope of LL, but they do add up, so here goes.
- I am able to drag a page, via its address bar icon, from my chromium browser, Slimjet, to the desktop. This is a great help. But then to use it I have to jump through hoops. It is saved as a “configuration file” rather than a simple URL. I am warned it is not an trusted launcher, and I either have to Trust it or launch anyway. Then I have to set the preferred browser the first time for each shortcut. This is a lot to do simply to launch a webpage.
- Perhaps related, I very often have to reset Slimjet as the Default Browser. At first I thought my backup, Maxthon, was commandeering rights. But I tested this inter-session without opening Maxthon with the same result. So I also wonder if the browser setting is being forgotten at the system level and is causing the need to set the default browser in problem #1.
- I have both desktop and Thunar set to single-click behavior. Not sure that matters here, but when I hover over a desktop icon I get a popup detail balloon, which is fine, but the icon is not Selected after a time as it is in Windows. In Windows, the icon is selected AND the truncated icon label is expanded in full. This is helpful in reading the full name of the object, which even the popup balloon in LL doesn't give (only gives file type and size). Currently I have to right-click the icon and go to Properties to read it.
