Yeah, it is a good idea, however, according to the author only a few pkgs can be successfully converted for now. Time will tell, but this kind of projects tend to be forgotten or dismissed, just like alien has been "abandonware" since 2016. https://sourceforge.net/projects/alien-pkg-convert/ a shame since it is/was more versatile as it can/could convert across different file formats and not just from arch pkgs.

Alien package converter is still an up to date though listed as orphaned Debian package [member=7109]Moltke[/member] which I still use occasionally with a few small more updated RHEL packages. However converting directly from AUR would most likely require starting with converting from Arch to RPM and then converting to Deb or rebuilding source in Debian. There are devs around the web who go to Arch for more cutting edge packages and package them for Deb in specific backports. Anyway the project of an AUR to Deb converter is kinda cool, though with gnome I would note that much is already been done toward universal package management anyway.

All opinions expressed and all advice given by Trinidad Cruz on this forum are his responsibility alone and do not necessarily reflect the views or methods of the developers of Linux Lite. He is a citizen of the United States where it is acceptable to occasionally be uninformed and inept as long as you pay your taxes.

Hmmm ... It's not an "up to date" pkg,  and yes, it's still maintained by Debian, there's a difference; the original developer hasn't updated it in 6 years, and pkg maintainer just do that, and yet

Like I said, it's been "abandonware" since 2016, from its original creator, that is.
