VLC doesn't maximize properly - blue frames
#11
Quote:I wonder what it chose to use with it's 'automatic' output setting before you changed it to X11

Navigate in your terminal to where OP store his mp file. then do this command....wait about 5 seconds and then close the gui down at the top but leave the terminal open.

I will show mine as an example where I still have not setup Video acceleration.....I may do that later so am still using xcb

Code:

comments ....do not be alarmed with the huge number of lines that scroll by.....if the video or audio works....who cares?
OK if you want better video you need to setup VA stuff but that is beyond the OP question. If I have time I will do a tutorial etc.

I am also grateful to the downstream maintainers of vlc for compiling this package with lua support. lua support means you can stream youtube inside VLC if you don't want to download using youtube-dl and want a mixer for the track you are watching.....otherwise you are stuck with the sound settings of the uploader.

Hope I have not confused you too much

Via the GUI it's Tools > Messages > 2 (Debug) then just start a video file playing.

main debug: using vout display module "xcb_xv"

your issue might relate to your actual video card and video acceleration?

Note I am on 64 bit 3.0

If you agree my test is proof its not your last suggestion we can explore your video card and VA setup?

The only claim I made was that my suggested solution did indeed solve my problem, so I have no idea what your point is here Smile I got it to work and that's all I really care about.

well I am glad you have it sorted but the words you used in describing your solution looked like some grand or universal solution.

cheers
