[SOLVED] LL2.2 Running from a USB stick only?
#21
@Jerry
I thought that was the info you wanted, I did earlier previews with out any problems so it's an intermitent bug.
Quote:Confusion can kick in when a developer like Ubuntu throws in their own servers and add apps that are not in
Debian servers. Then you have personal ppa that add to even more confusion.

SolydXK tried that route till the developer imploded trying to support business, home, and whatever else
by trying to have only SolydXK repo lines for package management. With their own package updater system also.
His mistake was following LMDE 's lead and going for a rollingĀ  base which Ikey the LMDE dev was opposed to, when he later released Solus OS it was with a stable base with updated apps/kernels. 1 GB update packs seems fundamentally wrong to this user.

I understand the attraction of Ubuntu and PPA's to devs, it has a big majority of Linux users market so their writing for a larger user pool and PPA's are far easier to set up than go through the labourious and tedious Debian process of acceptance with all it's politics.

Quote:They have since moved on to using Jessie lines in the /etc/apt/sources.list instead.
It is not easy trying to run/support a distro.
When Ikey started on dev'ing some alpha's for Wheezy after Squeeze he went looking for better package management and found PiSi which was developed by a Turkish university and started porting apps into it, he then decided that the only way he could develop things his way was to create his own linux base, desktop and basic apps so the moment you will have EvolveOS, budgie desktop and a budgie media player but it's no where ready for users yet.

Quote:It takes money, time, and a brotherhood of users. That is why I like BBQ Linux. They do not pretend to be what they are not. Read their forum sometime for a good grin. I go there when I feel depressed.
Their posts pick me right up.
If I had the skills/interest it's what I would use for a debian base for a distro, you immediatley have a superb expert/friendly advice available and your providing valuable feedback to bbq

I've been there to the site not the forum and was disappointed when they changed their web site into the mess it is now!

I would expect there to be a stable release there that I could use but trying to find anything on that site is just to time consuming and very irritating, they might be good engineers/admin but their sh*te designers.

Could you point me at a url to a good stable based on bbq, one for Jessie prefered with pulse, etc ready to use?
Quote:I go there when I feel depressed.
I don't understand you, you live remote from folk in a real community and you get depressed, you need to learn to like yourself Bro then you've always got good company the very best.
I thought you were more suss

Sorry rok

@ Jerry I seem to remember a search results type page coming up after I clicked preview and before the error dialogue.
I've tried to trigger it with this post but failed

@ misko friend
Try turning up the default font size in Appearance and then have a look at gparted and yad screens.

I use 16 point as I find the default size is not good for a normal user.

It makes my videos much friendlier to.
