Try it by typing password for wireless network on live boot.

It sounds like you have Num Lock enabled on your keyboard.
There is probably a FN + Key combination to turn it off. Then go: Menu > Settings > Keyboard, uncheck the 'Restore Num Lock State on Startup Dave

Hi I am new to linux and this is my first post on this forum, I hope I am in the right place.
I have just installed O.S.1.0.8 as dual boot with WIN XP on an HP 510 Laptop. My problem is much the same as this post by Pjpreilly, but a bit more complicated I have tried the suggested options with partial success. My biggest problem is with the Terminal it will not show my password when asked, I can input other "sudo " instructions and there are no problems but when asked for "sudo password " no characters appear all I get is the green flashing curser. All this means that I cant get any updates or make any changes.

That is normal behaviour...
When you sudo, it asks for your password... just type it, and hit enter, it doesn't show it whilst typing. Dave

This only happened with this distro on said machine. Booted others and no problem. Resorted to installing EOS Luna for a grandpa.

My first post:
Best wishes for Xmas and New Year to this forum and all the LL Team hope the new year brings more Lite-users. Posting from Thinkpad T43 and with regards to keyboard input wrong, this also happened to me. The solution for me was: You have to "hold the shift key+NumLk/ScrLk" to deactivate number lock screen lock. This should allow the keyboard to input correctly. I had this in LL1.08 and LL2.0 but in LL2.2 no problems. Xmas all Mau |
