-Nex = cpu-z.?
#1
Hi,

I came across -Nex which looks like a clone of the cpu-z tool for Windows that was very useful.
Anybody had experience of this.?

Info on i-Nex
http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2014/02/nex-c...tool-linux

There is a reference to "Gambas 3" which a google reveals is a programming/development language/tool. (It's also Spanish for Shrimp.... mmmm gambas al ajillo  Smile )
There is a cryptic comment from the reviewer "The good/bad news (depending on your preference) is that i-Nex is available to install from a PPA"

The review contains links to:
https://launchpad.net/i-nex

There are links to developer website: (in Polish)
http://i-nex.linux.pl/i-nex-7-4-0/

Then links to the PPA details:
http://i-nex.linux.pl/install/

So before diving in and installing, would see if anybody's got any comments on .it
Also, Install it via PPA? or the .debs on Launchpad.?

Dave

Hi altman,

Did not work for me...
I added PPA O.K
Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:i-nex-development-team/stable
Then
Code:
sudo apt-get update
Gave this:
Code:
Fetched 2,718 kB in 9s (286 kB/s)
W: Failed to fetch http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/trusty-updates/main/i18n/Translation-en  Hash Sum mismatch

W: Failed to fetch http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/trusty-updates/universe/i18n/Translation-en  Hash Sum mismatch

E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Then Trying the install gave:
Code:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies.
i-nex : Depends: gambas3-runtime (>= 3.5.0) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: gambas3-gb-image (>= 3.5.0) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: gambas3-gb-qt4 (>= 3.5.0) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: gambas3-gb-form (>= 3.5.0) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: gambas3-gb-desktop (>= 3.5.0) but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

I picked the the Ubuntu "Stable"
What did you pick.?

ah , I picked this link here ;

Ubuntu

Installing from Launchpad PPA

Daily PPA:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:i-nex-development-team/daily

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gambas-team/gambas3

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install i-nex

If you have previously added repository ppa:nemh/gambas3. It is required to remove it and use the repository ppa:gambas-team/gambas3

Hope it will help .

Hi,

Thanks, That worked...
Quite a big install for a Linux App...
I guess it must be the "Gambas3" stuff.

Lots of stuff to see & view like in CPU-Z
