Should we take the elementary OS approach?

Thank you everyone, some excellent views here on this. We will go ahead and try this. I'm hiring a Dev to help with it's implementation.

Just spoke at length with Dev about the entire project, also asked him to include a clear $0 option. Site should be live before the weekend. Cost of hiring Dev is US$200 for those interested in these things.

Excellent idea! It makes it easier to donate. I see there about 4600 members. Assuming they are regular users, and suppose half of them would donate $ 10 / year, would that solve financial problems?
By the way, I have donated 10 euros recently, but apparently I have used a wrong name, since I am still confronted with ads - also after logging in. It would be worth (at least) $ 10 / year to get rid of these nasty ads! Success with your plans. Paul

Paul - after you Donate, you are given instructions to PM me with your Donation name so I can add you to the non-Ads list. Cheers Smile

What about also adding a donate button on the last dialog of the Linux Lite Updates script?
It would remind users after downloading and testing for free while actually using Linux Lite and experiencing it's high quality.

We've now moved to the 'Pay What You Can' to see if we can boost revenue so we can have nicer things, like Translations, more innovation, a bell for my sisters tricycle etc. I'll post a new Sticky to inform the masses as they will surely say, "what! pay for linux, but I thought it was free!"

$0 is good upfront, maybe tag line..  "Feel like contributing and donating to a wonderful OS"...

Need that little reminder after install and are excited with a great new OS  Smile    Remember LL is supported by contributors/donators like you ..  Wink

Maybe phrase it.... "Donate What You Can" vs Pay ??

Tossing ideas out... But I do like the direction,

OH and May your sister get her bell!!!
