Cant add user with Lite User Manager
#1
I was trying to add a new user to the system using the Linux Lite User Manager. But after entering my Administrator password, I got this error:

I've tried several times with different usernames and passwords, but I just keep getting this same error; I can't add any user.
Any help?
(I'm on Linux Lite 4.8 btw and everything is up to date).

I take it that this is on an installed system and not a live image? Please give one example of a user and password combination you have tried so far and I will try the exact same credentials on a test machine.

Yes this is on an installed system, not a live image.

1 user & password combination I've tried are:
user=mirza
password=P@ssword1

I've also tried (mirza, Password1234), (mirza, Pa$$word1234), (guest, guest), (visitor, P@ssword1), and variations like that. Nothing seems to work; I just keep getting back the same garbled System Message (with 'mirza' replaced with whatever new username I tried).

I'm not sure why it isn't working, but I just realized something. The number of asterisks in the System Message is equal to the length of my Admin password. Is it possible the program is having some problem reading my Admin password? (my Admin password does contain a '!' character; could that cause any problems?)

If your password is longer than 30 characters, you'll get an error.
