Generic naming

How do you turn off the generic naming. Like the XFCE terminal is called lite terminal and I want it to be called xfce terminal. I looked in the settings and I couldn't find and option.

Hi,

Should be a right click on the menu icon bottom left and properties.
Half way down should be a menu configuration section.
You can name menu items/program with "Display generic application name", so uncheck that.
I'm not on Linux Lite writing this but the installation I have right nom shows "XFCE Terminal".

Hope this helps!

Its already un-checked. I think it has something to do with Linux Lite itself, not the whisker menu or XFCE. This is the only thing I don't like about Linux Lite, that it's too user friendly (for me anyway). Is there any other way to turn it off?

I was just using the terminal as an example. I really don't feel like going through each and every app on the system and renaming it to what it is normally called.

This OS is for people transitioning from Windows, so it will always be 'user friendly'. They are solely our target audience.

What exactly are your expectations?

If you search using the generic name, it will often still pull up the same program.  I'm not at my computer now, but, for example, I believe if you search for Synaptic Package Manager, it will lead you to Install/Remove Software.  Might not happen with the Whisker Menu, but I believe it does with Synapse.  I can search for Catfish, and the File Search app comes up.
