No SWAP partition created during LL 4.0 installation
#1
Hello,

I installed LL 4.0 2 days ago without any problem, I selected to install LL on the whole volume and everything was going fast.

Today, as I verified my hard disk, I saw that no SWAP partition was existing !!!

In fact, as I have 4 GB of RAM, my LL doesn(t need to swap.....but what will happen if it needs ??

Or, may be I did someting wrong during installation ?
Let me know !
LL 4.8 running on Dell Optiflex 760
LL 4.8 running on Asus X52J
LL 4.8 running on Toshiba Satellite C670-14W
LL 3.8 (32 bits) running on HP Pavilion
LL 5.0 running on Samsung RV515

Linux Lite 4.0 is based on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS which has a Swap File not a Swap Partition.

Just had a look at HTOP while running LL4.0 with 4G of system ram.

It has a 2G Swap file.

I'm still on LL 3.8, dual booted with Vista. I created a Swap partition before installing LL. Will it still be usable after I (eventually) upgrade to LL 4 ?

You won't need one anymore.

Hi,

You can create a swap partition following these instructions:

https://www.freecinema2022.gq/forums/insta...supported/

But, as Jerry said, you don't necessarily need it.
