Need to thoroughly understand what people expect from Linux Lite
#1
Namaskar,  Smile

I was wandering around the web with keyword Linux Lite. I found some useful information which may be used by community and LL team to enhance user experience and to enhance reach.

1. I found some links which have thoughts of users about LL. I am sharing them here.

https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=225069

The main problem people think, seems to be incompatibility with UEFI. Actually, people are real angry for that.

https://freedompenguin.com/articles/opin...inux-lite/

It's a one year old review, may be useful.

2. When I was searching for an appropriate OS for my PC, I had crawled many comparing sites and many forums to come to a decision, which was Linux Mint XFCE(I'll be honest here). But, only some time after my decision and some time before I had installed OS, I came to know about Linux Lite. And, the result is LL.

May we be lacking in marketing and in taking the word out?

I hope Linux Lite makes top in near future.  Big Grin

Thanks,
Sanmay

I've addressed UEFI in this Forum many times, so I won't be repeating that stance again here Smile

'Linux Lite needs real marketing strategy' - we're already covering many bases on 'marketing'.
'Wherever you go, you find Mint' - ofc! They have been around a lot longer than us, and they lept to a high ranking when Ubuntu introduced Unity. LL wasn't even a thought then Wink

I do numerous interviews, and give info for websites. In fact, there's a new interview coming out soon for a website (will let you know when).

It takes time to build an OS following. Steady as she goes, be patient, do the right thing consistently, and your time will come Smile

Thanks a lot for your kind reply.

I agree with you on that. Now what LL needs is a bit of time, I think. Feeling awesome to hear that.

Not doing too shabby on current page hit rankings at Distrowatch. Ranking at 17 is nothing to poo poo about. MX and AntiX. A distro team I belong to. Sits Lower today. These rankings rise and fall and do not mean installs were done.

Can't hurt if done in knowledgeable, respectful, polite way. Saying LL is the best. F----- the rest. Won't attract some folks.
Our distro selling points are personal scripts for persistent usb, installed system snapshots to live iso.

In other words. If promoting Linux Lite. Learn what special included features may appeal to someone coming from Windows.
Like easy Printer installs. External USB Blutooth Speaker installs. Uses of LibreOffice. You got a big job ahead of you if you wish
to promote a distro intelligently.

Good luck with it, Rok

I just had this idea. I guess I'm not that intelligent...  Wink

I am sorry if I sounded impolite. I didn't mean to.

Thanks for the push up!

Distro watch is interesting to check occasionally to see what Linux Lite number is but it is not an accurate count of users or testers. As long as Jerry and his team stay motivate to keep up the good work, that is all that matters!  8)

Hello,

looking around the forums, I see many people doing so many different kinds of things with their LL.
For me it would not be possible to narrow the people down to a focused few.
Indeed the community is too diverse, and in itself this is what people can expect from Linux Lite.

Indeed, I agree. The comprehensive approach of LL towards providing features and accessibility to users is what makes LL stand out!
