Is the bash file from the actual Lite software, or Github fork ?
I understand so far that the bash files begin this way, but github is like something else, I used it recently for the first time successfully though for code of my project using the Lua dev board. I think myself if I were ever at the stage of making a distro, which doesn't hold an interest for me, I would do the required in the file but I'd also notify if possible, maybe via the github fork, or other method, coz the creators might like to know about how popular it is, where it is used etc. For me I try to be polite, it seems the polite way, but I am not having any level of awareness really of the acceptable ways. If I made any open source software myself (which I might one day) I would like myself to know who used it in their projects, if they altered it or improved it, eg I might prefer their improvements, and if I did I'd like to say thanks to them for that, I know sometimes the github has such improvement showing up. It would also encourage me to try more that it was useful for a person in the world etc. Before I wrote an article for my past website, it took me most of my time each night almost every day for about 2 years to write it and a bit of my weekend and holiday times, and get the language nice, over a 5 Million people did read it, it was later said to be definitive article for that species, and it got isbn in a scientific journal later that is in British Library. Nobody said anything to me, 2 years after the journal all the major ones began to use it, a couple of them claimed they invented the idea, until they were proven wrong, I had no way of replying as they had actually banned me for what they thought was too radical an ideas. Being humane didnt suit the profits for them etc. Anyhow I did give up writing anything because I had thought it was not of any use to the world, only that negative people were reading it and not the majority of people who I had hoped read it, it kinda of got me down a bit when I realized later people had read it and it had been useful for some of them. I guess its why I have the bias for liking to know its useful, as its the only motivation to work hard in that hope etc. I hope that finding its useful to the greater community outside of the rapidly growing LL community is inspiring for you . I can see why the tarnishing of the Lite can be frustrating, and disappointing. In the original we have Kodi, and can use the freeview, and free internet tutorial channels, bbc iplayer for now, it requires soon login for license payers but we pay that so can add it if there is a kodi functionality in future as my brother created our official login a few days ago, and the many free radio on it. Best to think of the many 100,000's of LL users who find a positive use for it. My own personal opinion is I think it is kinda cheeky to use it and have fundraising on it, if I used a some things myself for fundraising, as I have a zero interests in finance, I would just give the money to the sources of what I used, divide it based on some form of equality for the amount of usefulness each component had produced in my calculation for the users, to make it as fair as possible. Eg; it is good the open source projects are shared, but where it is fundraising then also the finances should be shared amongst those projects. Where the projects do not want it, and have no interests in finances they can donate it to a charity they feel good about its work.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts bitsnpcs. I don't think they have source code, just .deb packages. For the record, I have absolutely no problem with people using our software. This reinforces to me that we are doing the right thing.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery The whole free software movement is built around sharing. That's why I'm involved in it. Swathes of society have been mis-educated to think that sharing software is bad. I'm a huge advocate for the sharing of knowledge. The other OS guy could potentially take Lite Software and make a useful, innovative change to it that benefits everyone. For me, that's exciting. There's no ego here, in fact, we ask those wanting to join us in development to leave their egos at the door and only join us if they can offer software based solutions that benefit humanity. I've found this to be an extremely rare trait, and most likely one of the reasons we find it hard to get volunteers to join us in regards to software development. It is disappointing to see free software used to proliferate an illegal activity.
