A suggestion to have Compton installed
#1
I suggest having the Compton composite manager preinstalled, but allowing the user to select it in the Session and Startup > Application Autostart tab.  Or perhaps some other method for easy installation/activation could be implemented.

Compton has helped me and others with screen tearing.  When I found out about it, I was more comfortable installing it on my own, but I'm sure I would have been hesitant as a new Linux user.

This has been previously discussed. Compton is a great solution for those with screen tearing, however, the Compton config cannot be set up in such a way that it offers a 'one size fits all' solution. I use it myself, but am not prepared to deploy it into LL whilst it is so hardware/config specific.
