[CLOSED] Java Required Message.??
#1

Running updated LL2.4
Running latest Google Chrome.

I wanted to test my Internet connection.
One test was latency so went to this site: http://www.pingtest.net/
It shows the following message, any ideas..??

Pingtest.net requires Java for packet loss testing, but it does not appear to be installed in your browser.

The assistance link just takes you to the regular ORACLE site.
I have installed Java from Lite Software Centre, still the same message.
Any ideas..??

I should add,
never experinced issues on any other site, so it's not really a biggy, I can always just use "ping" in a terminal.

Thanks

Have java common.  Pingtest worked.  Other test didn't.  But I did also see the warning: "Pingtest.net requires Java for packet loss testing, but it does not appear to be installed in your browser."

The Java in LSC is OpenJDK. For web, you will need the Java applet from LSC.

Hi,

@Jerry, I "do" have the Java applet installed from LLSC

Just to confirm, the test produces "3" results
The Ping(Green) and Jitter(Blue) are "O.K"

It is the "Packet Loss"(Red) which errors.

Have you tried this one? http://www.speedtest.net/ (uses Flash)

Yes, that one is fine for Ping/Speed,
the other one also does jitter, that is the part that fails,
no need to worry, you have more important things to do Smile LL 2.6

Packet Loss errors on that site in my Chromebook.

Code:
CHROME VERSION
44.0.2403.125
CHROMEOS_RELEASE_DESCRIPTION
7077.111.0 (Official Build) stable-channel parrot_ivb

No jave shows in my
Code:
chrome://plugins/
The other tests (Ping & Jitter) work OK for me.
I am not going to install java though on this Chromebook just to test this.
I treat this netbook with kid gloves ever since I almost bricked it once
trying to get it to run Linux when I got it.

Decided no big reason to adapt it as I have other netbooks/laptops with LL and other Linux on them already.
Besides. I need to learn this new fangled younger generation stuff.
