Cant install latest image (linux-lite-6.4-64bit.iso)
#1
Hi,
Im trying to install LL 6.4 (linux-lite-6.4-64bit.iso) on my Lenovo T400.
Im booting the image from a USB stick and after choosing Direct install the installer says
"425: out of range pointer: 0xbd6ff020"
"Aborted. Press any key to exit."

A Lenovo T400 might struggle to run a modern OS.
Did the LL 6.4 USB Live boot actually run ?

I'm currently running windows 10 at that laptop. Ssd, 8gb ram...

What utility did you use to write the iso to USB ?

I did use rufus 4.0p to write the image.
I tried to install all versions down to 5.8. 5.8 worked fine and I noticed that it uses a older grub version. Are there any upgrade path from 5.8 to 6.4?

There's no direct upgrade path between LL series (e.g. 5.x to 6.x), only within series (e.g 5.2 to 5.6).

I've read some things about issues regarding Rufus/GRUB combinations - as I guess you have too.

Using the LL 5.8 installation, add Balena Etcher (from Lite Software) and then use Etcher to create a 6.4 USB drive.

Ah! Etcher did the work. Installation went through without any issues.
Thank you!
