Desktop customization issues
#1
Hello,
I notice that when moving an file on the desktop, if i try to let ca 1 cm or a bit less close to a folder, it get absorbed into it. Anyway to change that?
Also, how can I dissociate the icons and the desktop grid? Let's say I arrange the icons on my desktop and i want them to remain where they are? or just the bin let's say? is it related to the updates or there is a way to dissociate them?

Two different questions here.

1. The behavior of the files and folders is annoying, but not sure if it can be adjusted. It is related to the screen grid that positions the items on the desktop. TBH the desktop is not the safest place in the world to keep files irrespective of operating system.

2. The icon placement is set in a file in /home/user/.config/xfce4/desktop/icons.screen0-nnnnxnnnn.rc

Sometimes you can wind up with a heap of files in here and it gets confused. Simply delete the lot, position the icons and hen log out with the Save Session box checked. Log back in and it should be as you left it. Sometimes this needs to be repeated but normally once set that's it.

Thanks but that sounds above my tech capacities to modify something like that.
I have the same problem on Ubuntu 18 by the way.
