This laptop is Vista era.

Tried to install LL 4.0 on it this morning.

As soon as it started copying files from the live usb the installation crashed.

Mmmmm.......Could be a bad iso......Downloaded a fresh iso and made a new live usb.

Started copying files from live usb........Installation crashed.

Mmmmm.......Might be the old hard drive....?

Changed the hard drive.........Installation crashed.

Downloaded a LL 3.8x64 iso and installed from live usb.

A flawless install  Smile

My friend is very happy.......The laptop is flying on Linux Lite 3.8

But why would 4.0 not install.... :Smile

I'm running LL4.0 on this exact same machine as I write this. No problem installing it.  Fun fact: I did have problems with 2x and 3x series:  "Installer crashed" while creating user profile was a frequent occurence and I had to try installing again and again... For some unknown reason, it did finally work (otherwise I wouldn't be here).  With the 4.0 serie, none of this.  I didn't use Systemback or any other backup software, did not connect while installing and did not check the options.  Maybe not related to your problem, just a feedback from a user with similar hardware.
Cheers!

Thanks for that bonnevie.

The only thing I can think off is it may be a bios/kernel issue ewhatever the owner is just happy to get his laptop up and running again.

Will leave the thread open to see if any other Members have any other ideas Smile
