Still Live User After Installing LL 3.6

So I am coming back to linux after many many years away. I am trying to use LL to make my junky laptop usable. After booting from a usb drive I love it. The install completed and promted me to restart, so I did. However, after booting up it just takes me back into the live user and doesn't ask for my password. I have tried installing 3 times and still nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

Remove the USB drive before rebooting. If you don't you will just boot the live system again.
