In all fairness to Linux Lite, it's not typically difficult. When you can provide make and model numbers early on, that gives the forum some idea about your hardware specs. Furthermore, there really are things you requested already in the manual, but like my link in Reply #16 of this thread, they can get overlooked.

As far as not getting a new machine, Dell and HP sell new computers with Linux preinstalled.
