question about upgrading to newer version
#1
I am running an older version of linux lite, I would like to upgrade to the newer version 3.2    I know that I can backup and restore everything in the Home folder, but is there a way to keep track of and save any of the modifications I have made which may not be in my home folder?  Over time I have made quite a few changes/additions to the stock OS.  I have Back in Time installed, but I think that would only help with restoring the older distro.  Originally I tried to start a list of programs that I installed through the Lite Software Center, but as with many good intentions it has not been kept up to date.  Also, there were a lot of things I changed which were not through the GUI, some were through a terminal, some with Wine, as I said I wanted to keep a list but eventually forgot to.

One of the main reasons I want to do this is my Firefox no longer works properly, it opens in a fresh window every time and does not keep any bookmarks or tabs.  I tried restoring from backup but it hasn't fixed it.  If necessary I might have to start a separate thread about the browser problem, but it occurred to me that one way around it might be to upgrade to a newer Linux Lite and a fresh browser installation.

Looks like this question was overlooked. The short answer is that there is no support for upgrading from Series 1.x to Series 3.x The differences between the two are too vast.

OK, thanks.  If I install a 2nd hard drive for my data and just use the primary for the OS only, how would I go about restoring home folder to the new hard drive from a backintime snapshot using rsync?  It seems like it would be better to use rsync because backintime doesn't see my previous snapshot images at all.  I can't find where to load an previous config file, either.
