Been toying with the idea of a multi-boot Live USB.. Thought I'd see if any of the good folks on here have done this and which application they used/preferred... I have seen different variations mostly derived/using LinuxSys and grub...
Ultimately I'd like to have 32 and 64 bit versions of LL on a single USB.
LL4.8 UEFI 64 bit ASUS E402W - AMD E2 (Quad) 1.5Ghz - 4GB - AMD Mullins Radeon R2
LL5.8 UEFI 64 bit Test UEFI Kangaroo (Mobile Desktop) - Atom X5-Z8500 1.44Ghz - 2GB - Intel HD Graphics
LL4.8 64 bit HP 6005- AMD Phenom II X2 - 8GB - AMD/ATI RS880 (HD4200)
LL3.8 32 bit Dell Inspiron Mini - Atom N270 1.6Ghz - 1GB - Intel Mobile 945GSE Express -- Shelved
BACK LL5.8 64 bit Dell Optiplex 160 (Thin) - Atom 230 1.6Ghz - 4GB-SiS 771/671 PCIE VGA - Print Server

Not sure, but it seems likely to cause problems if you try to boot two different versions of LL as each one needs to be in control of booting.

Hi,
When I was still using Windows I had 6/7 Linux distro's inc LL on a 16GB USB stick.
I used YUMI, there is also a Linux YUMI further down the page, not tried that.
It does say installing from YUMI is not supported, but it worked for me.
Edit
There is a little tick box, top right that allows the addition/removal of distros.

I have done this..... it's not only possible, but also very easy, and works well.
I used YUMI in a Windows XP computer (yes, I still have a laptop running XP!) to create my multiboot USB stick. On a 16GB stick I have YUMI carrying PCLinuxOS-MATE, Linux Mint 17, LXLE and Zorin 6 - all of which are offered by the YUMI installer and listed on the site as being "supported".
I have also added Linux Lite 2.2 and 2.6. They are not listed, but by choosing the "try unlisted" option in the YUMI installer and navigating to the relevant .iso (which you need previously to have downloaded and saved on your computer) you can put them on the stick as well. I added the two Lite OSs under the "use syslinux" category on the YUMI stick. Both of them run absolutely fine as Live sessions.
Go on, try it. Nothing to lose, and a good way of trying out different distros. Live sessions from a USB stick also run more smoothly and quickly, in my experience, than from a CD or DVD.
I have not tried actually installing any Linux distro from a YUMI multiboot stick or indeed any USB stick. I think for an actual install I'd play by the rules and do so from a Live session running from a CD or DVD. But others may think - or have already done - differently.

I have used MultiBoot a Linux native program with 100% success: http://liveusb.info/dotclear/-- http://liveusb.info/multisystem/install-...sh.tar.bz2 It can be installed via Synaptic as well.
Explanation: http://www.pendrivelinux.com/multiboot-c...rom-linux/
I used a 16GB USB stick, loaded 20 different distros and one with persistance with no issues at all.
Yumi is great http://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multib...b-creator/
So is LiLi http://www.linuxliveusb.com/
It is a LinuxLive Creator for windows.
I have not had issues with either 3 of these programs.

Thanks all... I've seen MultiBoot and a couple others, may try yumi and multiboot since both have worked for folks here.. I have a few usbs floating around with either LL 32 or 64 bit and a Mint.... Just would like in USB for test/installs, portability and ease of finding them later 8).
VMs work well until I want to take with..
Happy Holidays !!!

Thought I'd post back..
Been playing with YUMI (Linux version) it looks like it works up to the point of using it...
I can add/remove ISO's with no problem it creates the SYSLinux file, when booting is fails (no OS found)...
So I tried the Windoze version for kicks > much better...
- - The Interface - Choices on configuration - and it works...
On a side note the DEV mentions updating Linux version as time permits, so maybe it'll catch up.. - - Windows version last updated 12-28-2015...
The exe version (winders) does work - I've only thus far used as Live environments; I haven't installed - yet...
I plan to test with 2.8 beta on one of these systems
I will at some point try the others mentioned as well and report back...
Update: Checked versions..
Linux 0.0.1-1
Winders 2.0.2.0
FWIW.... I'll keep an eye out for updates

I've used MultiBoot also. Works very well. Have not tried any others, so can't comment on them.

Not a problem booting ISO files -- only actual installs of LL.

@goldfinger- I have an issue dual booting LL 2.4 and LL2.6. It seems grub is not fully implemnted or something. I get an error when trying to boot from either HDD into the other LL install. So i have 2 HDD's which enables me to choose the disk at boot from the BIOS. Otherwise if i choose LL on the other HDD it doesn't work. All my USB multiboots work, but after install is where my issues lie. I am no GRUB expert, but no other distro i use has this issue. Maybe GRUB was slimmed down somehow ?
This is a combo reply to the above quote and below quote. Since USB multibooting isn't an issue, we could start a new thread in HDD installs/GRUB topic ?

No need for another thread. Your timing is perfect. I happen to be in middle of this similar issue with another poster here: https://www.freecinema2022.gq/forums/insta...windows-7/. (You don't need to read through all of the posts there. I'll pick-out relevant points that apply to you below.)
Other poster's problem is with Mint and LL, but the two different LL's in your case are causing same problem. Why will one that controls booting not boot the other one? Here's my answer on other thread (reply #13):
Quote:It's not that other distros fail to "see or work well with LL". One or two standard lines in grub code that all distros look to and use to boot others they find was altered/customized in LL -- so they don't work as expected anymore when pointed to by other distros -- causing failure to boot LL. The change(s) to LL were made to make things easier for new Linux users who dual-boot with Windows. I don't dual-boot with Windows, so I don't really know what about the menu is "easier" than what one would see without the change(s).
When I first started using Linux and did dual-boot with Windows, I honestly didn't think there was anything particularly confusing or difficult about the grub menu I was seeing -- so not sure if such modifications are really necessary.
Other poster was also combining Windows 7 and EasyBCD into the equation, so there are two possible solutions offered there. In your case, what you'll need to do is described by austin.texas on the Mint forums here. Near the bottom of this post of mine I basically just elaborated a bit more on what austin.texas posted to make instructions easier step-by-step. You can follow those steps by just making a couple of changes.
- Decide which OS you want to control booting -- LL2.4 or LL2.6? Where I refer to doing things in Mint, you substitute your controlling LL.
- When you see step with command "gksu gedit /etc/grub.d/40_custom", substitute "leafpad" in place of "gedit".
