Main Menu problem
#1
Hi guys,

I've got a compound problem with the Whisker Menu. I have a portable Windows .exe utility that I store in the /opt hierarchy. I can access and execute it in Thunar with one click without problem. But I didn't want to go looking for it each time, so I opened the Main Menu configurator and added a launcher to it.

The first problem is that the launcher fails with "permission denied". I can't figure that out since it launches from the file manager without elevation.

The second problem is that though I can see the launcher in the Main Menu, it is not present in the configurator, so I cannot edit or delete it.

Any help sorting this out would be appreciated. Smile

I cant' help with the first problem since I don't know anything about running .exe files in Linux.

But deleting menu items that are not listed in the menu settings got to
/home/<user>/.local/share/applications/
there are a bunch of .desktop files in there. Look at the properties under 'launcher' and delete or edit the on that has the command to start your .exe program.

Thanks, UltraCookie, that quickly took care of that. Much appreciated.

I've run into this launcher permission problem before, with Wine, but I'm not sure exclusively so. Maybe the solution is to keep the executable in a non-root folder, but that seems like a workaround.
