I had a recommendation to install LinuxLite to Pen drive as a portable OS.
Really bad idea.
The installation seems to have worked but my 500G HD from which I was dual booting has had its partition table removed.
I'm really angry right now as I have spent 2 days trying to recover data, so far without success.

You need to learn more about the installation steps.
YOU placed the command "Install grub on /dev/sda", which is the default choice in the list of choices.
The right choice was "Install GRUB on /dev/sdb".
The ComboBox with the choices, is in the lowest part of the installation screen.
What did you learn from that?

Download it, and install it. Then use it.
