(Resuelto) Problemas de visualización de Linux Lite Wellcome
#11
Good morning, Steven!
1) No, the problem with lite-welcome appears after updating everything, including having put everything in Spanish.
2) I don't know if having Dosbox-X installed on the flatpak that I use to use MS DOS, Windows 95 and 98, within Linux has any influence. and Firefox as SNAP.
3) No, it does not appear in any other native linux lite applications.
4) Yes, in the Dosbox-X dialog boxes, you see the characters all displayed as squares. Many times, after restarting or turning on the PC, and once inside my desktop, the WIFI icon appears duplicated. This error occurs especially when after updating, I turn off the PC, and the next day I turn it on again.

In case it helps, I usually update Linux Lite like I did in Ubuntu, all from the command line of the terminal:
echo && echo Actualización completa del sistema ... && echo && echo Teclea clave de superusuario y pulsa intro... && echo  && sudo apt update -y && sudo apt upgrade -y && sudo apt full-upgrade &&  sudo apt dist-upgrade && echo  && echo Actualizando el grub del sistema ...  && echo &&sudo apt dist-upgrade && sudo update-grub && sudo update-grub2 && echo && echo Eliminando paquetes obsoletos... && echo && sudo apt autoremove -y && sudo apt autoclean && echo &&  echo Actualizando flatpak ... && echo && sudo flatpak update -y && echo && echo Actualizando snap... && echo && sudo snap refresh
I don't know if this is the problem! Greetings!

Can you provide the result of
Code:
dpkg -l | grep xapp

If I understand correctly your basic Linux Lite system, fully updated and set for Spanish displays the Lite Welcome screen correctly.

The implication is that something changes after that point to stop it working - is that correct ?

You mention Firefox and Dosbox-x as possibly being associated with the problem starting.

Firefox (snap) is part of Linux Lite 6.x.  Did you install this from Lite Software or another method ?
Dosbox-x isn't in the usual repositories, what instructions do you follow to install this ?

I have seen topics raised about the Network Icon not appearing.  The accepted view is that this is an xfce issue.
I seem to remember some reports of double icons though I can't find any at the moment.

Your method of update/upgrade looks like it will attempt to do more than the standard method but don't know if it is updating something which is upsetting lite-welcome

Hello, good afternoon!
1) I Try typing this command in the Linux Lite emulator Terminal, and this is the result:
francisco  ~  dpkg -l | grep xapp
ii  gir1.2-xapp-1.0                              2.2.8-1                                      amd64        Introspection data for Xapp
ii  libxapp1:amd64                                2.2.8-1                                      amd64        XApp library
ii  xapp                                          2.2.8-1                                      amd64        Libraries and common resources for multiple desktop environments
ii  xapps-common                                  2.2.8-1                                      all          Files that are common across Xapp desktop applications

2) lite-welcome worked fine with LInux Lite 6.4, when upgrading to Linux Lite 6.6, it only worked the first time that I completely upgraded everything with lite-upgrade-series6 from linux Lite control panel.Since then, it has not worked and when you open it you only see the blank window.
3) Firefox I did  install it from the Linux Lite app store.
Dosbox_X from flathub prompts:
sudo apt install flatpak
And there is also the recommended plugin:
sudo apt install gnome-software-plugin-flatpak
4) Regarding what is not Linux Lite, I have it because I use old MSDOS and Windows applications, which do not work with Wine.
5) The thing about updating everything completely is because that's how I've done it since I moved from Debian to Ubuntu.
But, I wouldn't bother doing it right now with Linux Lite Package Update Indicator if that would solve the problem.

I hope this information is of great help to you.

After installing flatpak with:
Dosbox_X from flathub prompts:
francisco  ~  sudo apt install flatpak
And there is also the recommended plugin:
francisco  ~  sudo apt install gnome-software-plugin-flatpak
Then I install the Dosbox-X flatpak package:
francisco  ~  fltapak install dosbox-x

Francisco,

Thank you for your cooperation and patience.

On a clean install of 6.6, I tried the following steps, rebooting and checking each time.

Updated fully using Lite utility
Set the system to Spanish Language following the manual
Installed flatpak
Installed gnome-software-plugin-flatpak
Added flatpak repository
Installed dosbox-x
Installed Firefox (snap) from Lite Software
Ran the 'update/upgrade everything' command that you use

Lite Welcome appeared as expected each time

I don't have the same hardware and have only added the applications I think most likely to trigger unusual behaviour.
Your list of repositories contain some elements that I don't understand and I think you did an in-series upgrade to get to Linux Lite 6.6 rather than a clean install.

It may be this is an 'edge case' although a couple of other posters have seen similar.
I can't reproduce the problem and I'm out of ideas at the moment - sorry.
If you think I've missed anything significant, let me know.

Steve

I think the problem is that I upgraded Linux Lite 6.4 to Linux Lite 6.6, instead of doing a clean install.
What I'm going to try is a clean install from the Linux Lite 6.6 installation DVD. I already have a backup copy of the hard drive partition with Linux Lite. When I have everything installed and updated with Linux Lite Update, I will tell you the results using the commands that you have given me, for system information.
Of course, I will not add any repositories, except for the Ubuntu Pro ones that I have activated for my PC.

Hello Steven!
In the end, I installed Linux Lite 7.0 with a clean installation, and after updating everything, the operating system, putting it in Spanish, and installing all the applications I had. I verified that all Linux Lite Welcome problems were solve.
Thanks very muchs!
