Automated install
#1
Automated installs.
Ubuntu and some other distro's support this part but does Linux Lite?
Havent seen any real information about this as of yet so I need to ask Tongue

I have had very little support from linux mint ( as an example, among a few ) in terms of my needs...
Let me break it down for you.

I work for a municipality and I take/get every single PC they discard in order to clean/wipe them and then resell for cheap.
Windows is out of the question which leaves Linux but I need to make some kind of automated install ( oem install ) thus saving time for me and my colleagues and allow end user to set the system up their own way.
Several attempts has been done to do this on other distro's and each time the entire project ends up in deadlock due to a script not running at the end of the install.
The script in question simply installs a webbrowser choice app which pops up first logon for each user ( as required by local municipality standards )
As mentioned above, the help with fixing/running said script during the automated install has been ... missing... ( and help has been asked via several distros )
This is not about branding, all logo's and names will remain as is, I just need that app installed during oem install.
Giving this is about almost 1000PCs/year it should be fairly good adverticing to which ever dist manages to help me with this Tongue
The reason why I havent had the need for linux before is that we had a special deal with microsoft in terms of windows XP... which for some time now have been without support in any way, shape or form.

So to the question, again ( as stated at the top ), does Linux Lite support OEM/preseeding?

We don't offer this out-of-the-box. We're a relatively small team of contributors at the moment and unfortunately don't have the resources to make this happen for you. Getting the pop up to load on start up would not be difficult to do, eg. you could fork a Welcome window that runs at login.

well the pop up is working... everything is working save running the install script during the oem install Tongue
Running the script manually does work so its something inside the oem install which simply cant find and/or execute the script

I don't understand if everything is working like you say.

Updated the post above before I saw your reply

its somewhere in/around the "#d-i preseed/late_command" something goes wrong.
Currently not at work ( at home and should be sleeping ) so I dont have access to the script

I see now, you want the script to run from within the OEM install process. Why not have it load at login?

once the PC leaves our care into the end consumers hands every script and/or files created at our section is mandated to be removed Tongue I cant leave it there Tongue
its called rules Tongue and I must abide by them Tongue
