Newly Installed- desktop blank-no panel
#1
Hi,
I installed LL from a disk a few days ago. Yesterday, all of a sudden, the panel, which is normally at the bottom of the screen disappeared. Since then my desktop is blank with nothing but a cursor. I can still right click and access applications, but I have no panel and no ability to shut down etc. For any help I would be very grateful.

You could try opening a terminal (press ctrl, alt, t together). Then at the prompt type

Code:
lite-tweaks

followed by return.  This should open the Lite Tweaks utility.  Scroll down and select 'Taskbar Restore'

Click begin.

I have this problem too, after installing 6.4  there are no icons or taskbar, only blank desktop. Right click is working but apps dont start, only Logout works. Tried with 6.2 too, situation is same. This happens in both live and installed versions.
lite-tweaks, taskbar restore trick doesnt work, giving me errors in Terminal.

Sounds like you have a different problem.

What error messages do you get when you try running a GUI app like lite-tweaks from the terminal?

Failed to load module "xapp-gtk3-module"      six times.

Negative content width -1. Allocation 1, extents 1x1.

Edit: I'm idiot. Problem was with hdmi connected to graphic card while monitor output was on vga. Hdmi had priority. Thank you for your help.

You'll see that in the Terminal from time to time, it's benign and safe to ignore.
