Cannot Get DVD To Boot On LG GRAM Laptop...
#1
I just purchased this LG GRAM Laptop and love how lite weight it is! It is a nice laptop all around and is running Win 11 Home.
But I want to install Linux as my main OS and ultimately install Win 11 within Linux using VirtualBox. But I might just do a dual boot system.

IF ONLY...
I could even get the disc to BOOT!!

Any suggestions?

I've tried disabling Secure Boot and all the turbo charged settings in the bios... one thing at a time and then all together. I also adjusted the boot sequence and put ALL USB to the top of the list, with Win boot menu next and then the SSD.  I just don't know what else to do.

It did not work. I also tried disabling secure boot and UEFI. Also there is a Software block enabled and I disabled that, as well. It looked like it was going to boot at that point, but then the boot order menu came up.

NO IDEA what to do... other than return this laptop. But I like this laptop a lot... other than not being able to run Linux.

Have you tried a USB stick vs. the CD?

Maybe there is a time out before the disk is read?
Is there an issue with the disk = perhaps missing the boot portion - if its just a data disk it may not boot.. perhaps its not 'finished' ???

I typically use USB and no issues... If I recall the one I typically used with LL is like 4G so it doesn't have to be a very large.

No issue with disc's. They read fine on my other computer. It's a new LG DVD burner and I'm using Verbatim DVD's.

Per the idea of burning with a different burning software, I now have two disc's of LITE. I also have two other distros I've tried and nothing boots up.

I have Not tried a flash drive as I do not have one.  I'm a trucker and on the road. The only place I can stop for supplies is SOME Walmart's where
they let trucks park.

This is a bummer as I will be forced to return this laptop.
