Samsung Xpress C430W not printing with LL 5.0
#1
Hello,

This printer is correctly working under LL 4.8 from several PC's.
Under LL 5.0 I get message "rendering completed". And printer tasks are stopped and stay in the printer queue.

I downloaded the most recent printer driver from HP site (as HP is now managing Samsung laser printers), installation without any problem.
The printer is founded by LL, I am able to get information concerning toner level from "properties" panel.

Firewall is disabled.

Hello !
I ran a test using LL5.0 USB key to boot on. Start OK. I didn't install additional driver or piece of software.
I started Samsung printer and go to "printer" panel from "system" entry of the main menu.
My Samsung printer was rapidly detected but i got message "Server-error-internal-error".

Hello,

I ran some testing  after a clean LL 5.0 reinstall.
I alway get same problem.
Comparing  printer parameters LL4.8 vs LL 5.0 show many differences :
In both cases, printer driver is the same version : 1.00.39_01.17, and I defined printer as using IPP protocol.

LL 4.8 :
- driver appears as C43x.ppd
- driver version appears as Version 1.0
- Printer name : Samsung C43x

LL 5.0 :
- driver is ippeve.ppd
- driver version 2.2
- printer name looks "fancy" : Samsung-C43x_series_%SEC%84251%.........

The main difference is the CUPS version, I deduct (may be I am wrong...) theproble come from this new version of CUPS distributed with LL 5.0.

Hello,

I re-installed LL 5.0 and don't download printer driver from Samsung site.

During installation I selected Generic IPP Everywhere driver and it works !

So, where is the incompatibilty ? Either CUPS 2.3.x, either Samsung driver downloaded from Samsung site.

Hello,

I just discovered a very important information about Samsung printers :

https://www.bchemnet.com/suldr/forum/ind...opic=366.0

In two words : Samsung printers will not be supported by new releases of operating system as HP doesn't maintain driver's updates.

Hello,

I did some testing using LL 5.2....and Samsung Printer  C430W is now working fine !

Very simple :
When looking for a driver during printer definition, just tell to CUPS to use driver for Samsung C410 as this printer is supported.
I guess this driver is from Gutenberg and included in CUPS.

I did that as I saw Samsung drivers for both C 410 and C430 were the sames in the past.
