Live USB doesn't run
#1
Linux Lite runs OK on my Windows PC, but fails when I try run it on a Linux Laptop.
The laptop has Linux Mint MATE installed.
Grub does not see Linux Lite, only Linux Mint.

Laptop is an Acer Aspire One725, AMD Dual Core C70 1.3GHz, 4GM RAM
USB Stick is 8GB

Linux Mint Live boots OK all versions

LiveUSB....
Set BIOS to boot from USB 1st (boot order)
- if a UEFI bios - may need to disable SecureBoot (may need to set to Legacy BIOS too) or download the UEFI version of LL.

Grub is looking at installed OS's, not same as boot order...

If LL is installed - you'll need run grub update (in Mint) to see LL.
Code:
sudo update-grub
LL4.8 UEFI 64 bit ASUS E402W - AMD E2 (Quad) 1.5Ghz  - 4GB - AMD Mullins Radeon R2
LL5.8 UEFI 64 bit Test UEFI Kangaroo (Mobile Desktop) - Atom X5-Z8500 1.44Ghz - 2GB - Intel HD Graphics
LL4.8 64 bit HP 6005- AMD Phenom II X2 - 8GB - AMD/ATI RS880 (HD4200)
LL3.8 32 bit Dell Inspiron Mini - Atom N270 1.6Ghz - 1GB - Intel Mobile 945GSE Express  -- Shelved
BACK LL5.8 64 bit Dell Optiplex 160 (Thin) - Atom 230 1.6Ghz - 4GB-SiS 771/671 PCIE VGA - Print Server
Running Linux Lite since LL2.2

Thanks
UEFI is already disabled.
USB FDD is set as default 1st boot priority.
Manjaro Live USB also boots OK. I will try some others.

Oops. I meant UEFI Secure Boot is disabled.
Have now set Legacy BIOS, and LL Live boots up, but very slowly, like 6 minutes.
In addition the laptop won't boot the installed LM MATE in legacy mode.

[size=1em]Correct - (Mint not booting) its using UEFI -- I would suggest downloading the LL UEFI build.
From downloads - click the UEFI (red) icon it will take you here: https://www.freecinema2022.gq/forums/linux.../#msg44253
*Good Info within*
or get from here: http://repo.linuxliteos.com/uefitests/4.2/

Sometimes the LIVE environments run lil slow (off a usb) it'll be snappy once installed. Smile

BUT -- I would download the LL UEFI install - set back to UEFI/secureboot -- (it'll boot this new Liveusb) and install..
Both Mint and LL will then be on the same bios, both boot and grub will see them both...

Then you'll be like LL rocks and have more space when you remove Mint..  ;D ;D
I kid, but yes do the UEFI route..
*it says LL4.2 it will upgrade to 4.6 fine.
