How to integrate downloaded software into system?
#1
Because Pale Moon is not available through Synaptic for Linux Lite, I installed it manually in the usr/opt directory. It works, but it doesn't appear in the Whisker menu and I can't figure out how to add it to the menu panel. I know this is possible because I somehow already did it! :-) I did it with Reaper, which I installed the same way, but that was two weeks ago and I didn't keep notes on what I did. This time I will write it down in my Linux scrapbook (which I keep as a page in CherryTree - if you haven't tried this program, you are missing a great one, and it's in the repository, plus your files will be readable on a Windows machine, too). If I ever figure it out again, LOL.

Hello [member=8136]Tyrannocaster[/member] ,

right click the menu in the panel and select "edit applications" this will open the Main Menu Editor.
In the left pane click left mouse x1 on the directory you want Pale Moon to appear in.
If it already appears there but is not ticked , tick it and it's done. Then close.
If it is not there click in right pane "New Item", enter the name, command to run it and a comment, click the default icon/rocket, and browse to its application icon highlight and select, click done and close. It may have been possible to install it using the terminal, I am not familiar with this app, and then it would likely have integrated, unless it is a program say like etcher or some others that like to be standalone.
Edit -
Here is another way to install this app, it is PPA though - https://askubuntu.com/questions/1035155/...-18-04-lts

Thanks - I will put that in the scrapbook. Pale Moon didn't show up in the Menu, though. Oddly, under "Internet" there was one called just "Web Browser" when I edited the Whisker Menu but it didn't show up in the *actual* menu. Even more oddly, it did show up when I navigated to the ALL menu in the Whisker Menu - so I edited it for Pale Moon, and it works, but to get to it I have to select it from the ALL menu rather than from the INTERNET menu. I realize that description may be confusing, but I believe it is accurate. However, I was able to put it in my menu panel, so really, it works fine now.

Thanks again!

In Menu>Settings>Keyboard

It has info to make custom key combinations.
I don't understand that - how do custom key combinations come into this? I don't need keyboard shortcuts for these, although I probably will set some up for other things at some point.
