Maxtor USB External Hard Drive
#1
For some unknown reason Linux Lite 3.8 takes forever or never mounts my Maxtor external hard drive. I have tried different ports, rebooting and restarting with the drive on and off, connected and not connected. Have not tried uninstalling 3.8 and going back to 3.6 to see if that will work or try reinstalling 3.8. Does anyone have any ideas?

Check your config in the BIOS for storage options. See if HDD or hard drive is an option with USBs.

Hello !

Do you use an adapter to get power for this drive ?
Or is it powered by USB cable ?

You may try to boot a linux from USB key to see if it works, just to eliminate a possible software problem.

I have now installed Lite 3.6 from a USB stick and still have the same problem. It seems my computer (Dell Inspiron 531 Desktop) no longer recognizes My Maxtor USB drive. Not sure why? It does not even show up in my boot menu. It has been working in the past. Will try it on another computer.
