EasyTether Compatible?
#1
Yo! new Linux user here, and I have a question about the easytether app. I've seen that it works on unbuntu and linux mint.. is there any possibility the app will work with linux lite also? And if so how do I do this? I have a android that can only use 8 gb of mobile hotspot, has no USB tether option. I used PDANET app as my current usb tether set up on windows vista because i've hit the 8GB mobile hotspot cap. which is by the way infuriating.. most companies allow you to continue hotspot use just at throttled speeds. The boost mobile plan that I have will just redirect me to boost mobile site to reboost my plan which I wont be able to do until Thursday. I stay in rural area we don't have cable internet option, only satellite internet and we don't have that either. I use my phone for internet browsing streaming since i have unlimited plan.

Just wanted to know if easytether worked with linux lite. If not, I won't be online till next week but eh that's not problem.. I've also heard that I can reinstall windows if needed.

Hello kanqkhaos,

if it works on Ubuntu it should also work on Linux Lite, as like Mint, Linux Lite is also based upon Ubuntu upstream, but heavily tweaked in its unique way.

There is a tutorial here, http://www.mobile-stream.com/easytether/...linuxsetup

There is a step by step tutorial here to "read only", because it is dated 2011, and the .deb url may be incorrect, also too the Android interface, and need changing as per the above link, please await other members replies before trying it.

Yo bitsnpcs,

Preciate the help man! I'm now replying to your post from a tethered usb connection running Linux Lite 3.4! Took me a minute to learn my way around the Terminal, but I'm glad I made the change from Windows to Linux and my PC is working faster, and better than ever. Much appreciated.
