Hello all
#1
Hi everyone,

My name is Don and I'm an old dog learning new tricks. I've converted two old MacBooks and an HP to Linux finding that all three computers work better with Linux than with the original OS's. I've installed Lite on the oldest MacBook and, so far, it runs much better than it did on Mac OS X..

Here we go,
Don

Welcome, Don. I'm new to the forum myself. I've been around computers since the mid 70s and have been using Linux for about 15 years. With all that experience you'd think I'd know a little more, but I've fallen victim to age and prescription medication.

Don't hesitate to ask questions on this forum. The guys here are just fantastic. Probably the best Linux or other type tech forum I've ever belonged to. Just try and post your question in the appropriate category and area. That's the best way to be sure you'll actually get a good reply to your question.

Glad you're on board.
Steve

Don,
Not only are you welcome here, but you have the whole spectrum of novice-to-guru in one spot, with everyone
courteous and sharp (present company sometimes excluded) Big Grin Seriously, I  try out other distros, sometimes, but every new
one reminds me of how clever and how stable  Linux Lite is.
Welcome from another old dog learning new tricks!

64bit OS (32-bit on Samsung[i] netbook) installed in [i]Legacy mode on MBR-formatted SSDs (except pi which uses a micro SDHC card):
2017 - Raspberry pi 3B (4cores) ~ [email protected] - LibreElec, used for upgrading our Samsung TV (excellent for the task)
2012 - Lenovo G580 2689 (2cores; 4threads] ~ [email protected] - LL3.8/Win8.1 dual-boot (LL working smoothly)
2011 - Samsung NP-N145 Plus (1core; 2threads) ~ Intel Atom [email protected] - LL 3.8 32-bit (64-bit too 'laggy')
2008 - Asus X71Q (2cores) ~ Intel [email protected] - LL4.6/Win8.1 dual-boot, LL works fine with kernel 4.15
2007 - Dell Latitude D630 (2cores) ~ Intel [email protected] - LL4.6, works well with kernel 4.4; 4.15 doesn't work
