i can load LL2.8, but LL 3.0 throws my pc into sleepmode trying to load

i believe 2.8 + 3.0 have the same MINIMUM RECOMMENDED SPECIFICATIONS
am i wrong?
i am trying to load LL 3.0 by usb stick using win32diskimager

that's how i got 2.8 onto the pc...
help?
