When you say "I've recently been trying to upgrade," what does that entail?  What were you trying to do and what did you do to try it?

Your profile says you're on LL v2.8.  There is no in-place upgrade from 2.8.  As long as you install regular updates, it'll be good until April 2019.  If you were trying to install version 3.0, that's another story.

From what I assume here sounds like he's juggling around with the bios default drive to start from. Like if one sets the dvd drive to start first to install and then later forget to set the default drive to start from. I been trying to install 3.0 on my 20 dollar computer I bought at a garage sale and it would not see the thumb drive(installation medium). After getting my usb dvd drive to install 3.0 I had to go back into the bios to set the hard drive as the default start drive.

Sounds like the bios does not know what drive to start from.

Or if he went with (something else) option to install 3.0 and did not set a root. I think LL catches that right? I believe I got that error message once stating that I have no root set up or swap as well. I rarely go that root unless I am trying to make the swap bigger.

I'v been bashing Windows way before Microsoft.....

Yeah exactly that's what I've tried to upgrade to 3.0 how do I set the root back? Ok so I've just realised I think I've wiped the OS of my HDD shall I download 3.0 to my computer write to USB device and enter BIOS and set it to boot from USB then I can install from a live boot correct me if I'm wrong? Thanks guys
