[SOLVED] Problems installing additional software after upgrading LL2.0 to 2.2
#1
I've just upgraded from 2.0 to 2.2 but am encountering a number of problems which I am sure are probably related but as an XP user that is relatively new to LL I have know idea how to resolve them and would appreciate some help please

I get the following message when I try to use Install/Remove software
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

I cannot install Chrome or Skype from the Install additional Software menu

I've lost the volume Slider/Mute control from my taskbar

Hello Daveyboy,

1/ right click an empty part of the panel (taskbar), a menu appears.
2/ from the menu select  Panel>add new items.
3/ a box appears, scroll down and x1 left click to highlight upon 'indicator Plugin'.
4/ click the 'add' button at the bottom of the box, to add your sound icon.
5/ click the close button.
