window expands beyond borders when maximizing - UHC - 11-18-2024

it happens so far in chrome and telegram, started after software update

This may be a bug in the applications but I'm having difficulty finding references.
Try setting a 'Fill Window' shortcut and using that rather than the maximise icon to see if it works better.
Click Menu and begin typing 'Window Manager' into the text search box.
When you see 'Window Manager' offered, click on it.
Select the 'Keyboard' tab and look for a Action/Shortcut combination which you never use.
Select that Action and make a note of the associated Shortcut.
Click 'Clear' to remove the Shortcut from the Action.
Find and select the Action called 'Fill Window'
Click 'Edit' and press the shortcut key combination so that it becomes associated with 'Fill Window'.
Close the Window Manager settings.
Open Chrome and try the new 'Fill Window' shortcut key combination.
Let us know.

Your solution works, but it's uncomfortable when trying to resize the window quickly by double clicking the upper bar because it goes back to full screen. also when adding new tabs it goes back to the buggy full screen and then even the shortcut won't work

That's interesting. Did maximising Chrome originally work ok on your system and then you noticed the change to the buggy behaviour after an update ?
If you can identify a date when the behaviour changed it might help identify the trigger.

yes, and it's also on telegram for pc.
i noticed that if I change appearance (materia to greybird for example) fixes all oversized windows to the right size, but after you maximize those any window,it will become oversize again

I've been experiencing this issue with FULL SCREEN View (but not in reduced sized window) in Chrome of late whereas it never used to happen.
The quickest way that I have found to resolve this is to right click on the header toolbar in Chrome and then click on "use system title bar and borders" at which point the screen resizes to show the toolbars but you use lose the 3 sizing icons at the top right of the screen HOWEVER if you then repeat the above instructions sothat the "use system title bar and borders" has a tick along side it then everything displays how it used to - not ideal but until someone fixes the bug it is a servicable workaround.
