Linux Lite 7 Pretty as a picture. - trinidad - 06-05-2024
First pictures of my newly configured Linux Lite 7 system. All is going well. New kernel seems faster and tracks my CPU advantages perfectly. This iteration is going to be enjoyable for me.

I've noticed the newer kernel is faster too. My system has never been this quick.

I have noticed this, mostly on ASUS X200MA. It seems that "preemptive" translates into a different resource management, more close to the real resources available on the system.
My installation on Dell T1700 says that uses 1.3 GB of Ram (of cca. 15 GB available), while on ASUS, it says about 840 MB out of cca. 1550 MB.
Unexpectedly, the amount of SWAP was below 100 MB, even below 50 MB with Chrome and some 10 documents in it, which is pretty unusual on such a machine!
I need to check more of this, but the overall feeling is that old machines will benefit largely from this new release.
So far, it looks to me this is the best iteration, starting from LL 3.6. Might become a milestone in the Lite history!

It's too soon for me to say that on Dell, but on ASUS X200MA, it definitely works better than any previous installation, including Mint, Manjaro, MX and some others I forgot about. Deepin and Zorin Os, I guess. I quit distro hopping more than 8 years ago.
I'd like to hear from other people with this kind of machines.
If all goes smooth, I got a request to install Linux Lite on two laptops Dual Core/ 2 thread, 4 GB RAM.
If this will happen, I'll be able to have a broader view over the system and the way the resources are managed over at least 4 different configurations.
My wife's laptop is irrelevant becasuse it's a 6 core/12 threaded AMD, and I can't test it anyway since it's in Germany.
