How to change the language to German? - buddel - 09-18-2014 Hello, I've just installed linux lite on an older computer - unfortunately I am not able to change the language (menus etc. to German for the main user. I tried to change it via the setting > language support, applied system wide, even removed English as an option but all the menus in all programs remain in English. How can I change the language? (by the way German was selected during the installation process in the first place) B. Re: How to change the language to German? - Scott(0) - 09-19-2014 Hi Buddel, Welcome to LL. If German is not there or doesn't seem to work then Right click on the icon Select preferences In the Ibus Preferences window select Input method Make sure that Customise active input methods is clicked Select the appropriate version of German from the drop down list Select Advanced Make sure that Use system keyboard layout is not ticked. Once you have closed the preferences window then you may need to log out and back in again. For example, selecting location as London during install and then accepting the offered defaults of UK English and normal UK keyboard, the system gets installed with US English. To get UK English I do this:
