ubuntu-support-status (command) - Rosika - 08-05-2022 Hi all, before downloading and installing Linux Lite 6.0 I wanted to run some tests on it making use of distrotest (https://distrotest.net/Linux%20Lite ). Basically that went well but there´s one thing I don´t quite understand: When running the command Code: ubuntu-support-status Code: 2117 packages installed I realize distrotest doesn´t have internet connection enabled but that shouldn´t have anything to do with it ... ... as I ran a distrotest instance for Lubuntu 22.04 as well - for the sake of comparison (https://distrotest.net/Lubuntu ). The same conditions applied here but I got the following output: Code: 1759 packages installed Does anyone have any ideas why the command "ubuntu-support-status" doesn´t seem to work (correctly) with Linux Lite? :022: Is it the same when using an installed OS? Thanks a lot for your help in advance. Many greetings Rosika :wave BTW: I made screenshots but I don´t seem to be able (or allowed) to upload them. Re: ubuntu-support-status (command) - firenice03 - 08-05-2022 [member=49917]Rosika[/member] The Support Status doesn't work on my LL6.0 VM which looks to have been removed in favor of Security Status.. see https://askubuntu.com/questions/1233412/ubuntu-support-status-script-no-longer-available-in-ubuntu-20-04 Code: ubuntu-security-status I receive the following output... Code: ubuntu-security-status Re: ubuntu-support-status (command) - Rosika - 08-05-2022 [member=5414]firenice03[/member]: Hello and thank you very much for you answer. :043: Oh dear, I´m afraid I´ve messed up my initial posting. So sorry. :dft006: In fact I did use the command Code: ubuntu-security-status Yet I also tried it with an older version of LL (I think it was 4.4.) by using an ISO I had lying around ... in a VM. This older version still used "ubuntu-support-status". Well, to put things right: in LL 6.0: Code: ubuntu-security-status That´s the exact output I got from distrotest. BUT: Thanks to you providing your output I see the command does work well. Perhaps the OS needs to be installed in order for the command to work. Still... it´s odd that the command works for e.g. Lubuntu 22.04 (still using distrotest) but not for LL 5.0 in distrotest. hrug At any rate it was good of you to provide your output. Thanks a lot for that. Also thanks for the link. Many greetings from Rosika :wave BTW: Do you know of a method of uploding screenshots or is it not allowed here? Re: ubuntu-support-status (command) - firenice03 - 08-05-2022 [member=49917]Rosika[/member] Yes you can post images.. See the following https://www.freecinema2022.gq/forums/introductions/forum-posting-guidelines/ If you're using LL the screenshot tool has an option to post to imgur and gives the said link to paste Re: ubuntu-support-status (command) - Şerban S. - 08-06-2022 (08-05-2022, 03:15 PM)Rosika link Wrote: [...] Yet I also tried it with an older version of LL (I think it was 4.4.) by using an ISO I had lying around ... in a VM. [...]Hi! I belive you forgot to really install the system. If you are using a virtual machine, this is the answer you get. Below, is my output, on a phisycal installation of LL 6.0: Code: serban@T1700:~$ ubuntu-security-status I hope this will give you a clue on how the command works in a real environnement. Best regards! Re: ubuntu-support-status (command) - Rosika - 08-06-2022 Hi all, thanks a lot for your replies. [member=5414]firenice03[/member]: Thank you very much for the link. Quote:If you're using LL the screenshot tool has an option to post to imgur and gives the said link to pasteWell, I didn´t know that. At the moment I´m still on Lubuntu but LL is a very hot candidate for my switch. :021: Alas the instructions don´t seem to be up-do-date any more? At least I cannot find the BBCode on the Imgur page. Never mind, I´ll just provide the link. So here are the screenshots I took from distrotest. It´s a comparison of LL 6.0 and Lubuntu 22.04: https://imgur.com/a/NaMzM5a [member=25275]Şerban S.[/member]: Quote:I belive you forgot to really install the system.Yes, that´s right. Well, I didn´t want to install the OS in a VM; just wanted to have a look around. But that´s what I was thinking as well. Surely LL has to be installed for the command to work. Thank you very much for providing the output of your system. That´s fine. Many greetings from Rosika :wave Re: ubuntu-support-status (command) - Valtam - 08-06-2022 (08-06-2022, 11:16 AM)Rosika link Wrote: Alas the instructions don´t seem to be up-do-date any more? The instructions were last updated on June 20, 2022, 01:57:42, and I just checked them, they're 100% accurate and are a match to Imgur. We embed images here because people are much less likely to click on links in case they are malicious. Embedding them in BBCode minimizes the risk to members. Re: ubuntu-support-status (command) - Rosika - 08-06-2022 Hi Jerry, thanks for your reply. Sorry, I hope I haven´t offended you in any way. :imsorry Quote:Hover your mouse over the top right hand corner of the image and click on the 3 dots, and then click on Get share links from the drop down menu and copy the code from the BBCode box in imgur and paste it on a line in your post where you want the picture to appear What I meant was: I couldn´t find the option "BBCode" on the Imgur page. The three dots just give me the two options "Embed" and "Download". :016: Many greetings Rosika :wave Re: ubuntu-support-status (command) - Valtam - 08-06-2022 Re: ubuntu-support-status (command) - Rosika - 08-06-2022 Thanks Jerry, for the animated instructions of how to do it. :043: I understand it well, but I simply don´t get the same Imgur surface you seem to have available. I have the three dots - that´s true - but "Embed" and "Download" are the only options I´m offered. No "Get Share Links" and its sub-menus. hrug Perhaps these options are offered after having created an account and signing in...? Still, thanks a lot for your help.. Many greetings from Rosika :wave |
