Re: updates - stevef - 11-15-2020 Are you trying to update straight after booting the PC from a LL live image disk or USB drive ? Updates can only be done after actually installing the software onto the PC and booting from the installed version. Re: updates - Beacon - 11-16-2020 ============ Log =========== E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend. It is held by process 2978 (apt-get) E: Unable to acquire the dpkg frontend lock (/var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend), is another process using it? Re: updates - stevef - 11-16-2020 Best to open a new thread rather but the 'could not get lock' error usually means an update check is already running and another one has been initiated. It is possible that a manual check has been started while a periodic automatic background check was already running. If that is the case, simply wait a while before re-running the manual check or observe the update indicator in the bottom right. Similarly it is not possible to do a manual update if the Synaptic package manager is open for any reason. If that is the case, close Synaptic before initiating a manual check. Re: updates - Beacon - 11-18-2020 Thank you for your reply. The rubric stated that I should add to an existing thread OR start a new one. Sorry if I should have done the latter. I appeciate your help and will try again. |
