Dell XT2 Touchscreen. Linux Lite 2.0. Installer stuck.-(SOLVED) - rokytnji - 08-16-2014 Ok, I usually can get by on my own figuring things out. But this is the 2nd run with the installer on this netbook. I mention "on this netbook" because I ran this same persistent usb Linux lite 2.0 installer last night on my Compaq CQ57 with a Apple Hard drive with no problemo. Meat and potatos info now: Code: linux@linux:~$ df -h /dev/sdb1 It's been on this screen for about a hour now after copying files. TOP tells me nothing about installer running. Only says one process running , which is TOP. Nothing about the installer. Since this is the 2nd effort. I figured I'd post this. Because I do not expect a different result on the 3rd try.If you wish to see partition layout. Code: inux@linux:~$ sudo fdisk -l Everything else is working OK on this usb install as I am posting with it. But this makes me wonder if I should blow it away and start from scratch with a new made live usb install in case something got corrupted in the installer between last night and today. Kinda my track record this past week on my gear. Flat tire on bicycle. ChromeBook will not recover and is a glorified door stop for now. My finger tips are sliced up from working on brick. I am in a bad spot of the universe this week I guess. Any encouragement or suggestions welcome. I can't win for losing in certain situations this week I guess. I just looked at the installer again. No progress. I am shutting this down. Edit: This is a OCZ 180 gig 1.8 mini sata ssd drive that arrived in the mail today and is what Linux lite 2.0 is being installed to. I had no problems installing this on a Apple 120 gig 2.5 ssd drive that came in for the compaq cq57 last night. So Pebkau does not seem to be the issue here. If anything. I figured I would have had a harder problem install on the Apple hard drive vs this OCZ. Re: Dell XT2 Touchscreen. Linux Lite 2.0. Installer stuck. - gold_finger - 08-17-2014 Boot into live USB again and remove the installer's slideshow. Then run the installer again. Code: sudo apt-get remove ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu Have seen cases before where slideshow freezes on certain people's hardware. Why? I have no idea, but getting rid of the slideshow gets rid of the problem. Have a feeling that's what's going on with you. Re: Dell XT2 Touchscreen. Linux Lite 2.0. Installer stuck. - rokytnji - 08-17-2014 Thsnks for pulling over anf giving this broke down biker a hand. It was worth a shot. Code: linux@linux:~$ apt-cache policy ubiquity-slideshow-ubuntu S o you can see I un-installed the slide show. But she still hangs in the same spot after copying files. Gave her plenty of time also. I'll try blowing away the pen drive install today and make a fresh live usb. Just to rule out a twilight zone type of problem. Because I have no clue on how a read only live usb root file system may become corrupted. But maybe aliens are involved since I live near the marfa lights. The reason I played with and tried linux lite was because of the touchscreen accepting inputs from my finger on the cursor on this hardware. So not quite giving up yet. If the remade live linux lite usb still fights this install. I'll post back with the news. I hope I can mark this thread solved though. Re: Dell XT2 Touchscreen. Linux Lite 2.0. Installer stuck.-(SOLVED) - rokytnji - 08-18-2014 Update. Blew away persistent 8 gig usb linux lite 2.0 install. Made up a new unetbootin linux lite 2.0 live usb. Ran the installer. No hiccups. So all I can guess is that the persistent install somehow, which is a wonderment to me, got corrupted somehow. The root file system should be read only but oh well. Stranger stuff happens when a usb may be improperly unmounted which in my case could be a possibility. Even though the usb ran flawlessly on everything else. Anyways. This install is done. You can put a fork in her. Code: harry@harry-Latitude-XT2:~$ inxi -Fxz Feedback on the new 3.16 kernel will go into the kernel thread. I'll post my screenshot in the other appropriate thread. This baby is solved. PS. The Touchscreen works out of the box. Re: Dell XT2 Touchscreen. Linux Lite 2.0. Installer stuck.-(SOLVED) - Valtam - 08-19-2014 New kernel to the rescue |
