Working iTunes alternative for Linux Lite 2.0? - Jack Yelland - 08-13-2014

Basically, I'm looking for software that will allow me to put songs from my iPod (Touch, 4th Gen, if that makes a difference Smile ) onto my PC. And also be able to add / delete songs from there as well...
I've tried this "gtkpod" thing, but I can't get it to work. The "Assistant" I believe they call it, doesn't pop up Sad

If anyone has any advice, it'd be greatly appreciated Smile

Hi  Jack,

I don't have an iPod but I'll try to offer some help.

The program gtkpod can be installed via the LL Install Additional Software utility:
Menu > All > Install additional software

A terminal window will open and gtkpod is choice #8.

I don't know if the software will do what you want or even support your hardware. You can find out more about gtkpod from their website at http://www.gtkpod.org/wiki/Home

His device is Gen 4, only Gen 3 and lower is supported on gtkpod. The installer does advise to check the website first before installing. I'm not sure of any alternatives.

Yeah, I didn't think gtk pod would work  Sad
Oh well, cheers for the replies anyways - I'll just keep trying random stuff (Something will work eventually Smile )

Hello!

I suffer from extreme Applephobia.

The happiest day in my life was when someone recently stole Mom's iPhone. My brother shut it down, locked it up, and wiped it from remote. As a result, they are now the proud owners of a brick.

With all that said, is it possible to run iTunes under WINE?

I did a quick search on the WineHQ website and found this:

You could try this:

Code:
sudo apt-get install ideviceinstaller

Then plug in your device and it may show in your file manager, or try reboot first if it doesn't.
