Install Updates Error Log - SCOTIANGOLD - 06-30-2020
Relative newbie. Cannot update this evening and advised to post error log in forum. Looks like this is the appropriate forum. Thanks.

Install Updates could not fetch the package cache information lists.

You have another process that has it locked - synaptic opened or similar...
Close any open windows and retry updates - or you could reboot (it will close any) and rerun updates after its back up....

When did that message come up? Did you get a notification about Updates, or did you just perform a random check for Updates?

I got the same message when being careless.
I use often both GDebi and Synaptic so if an "Update" is issued, this happens. The exact two messages are shown.
All you need to do is check the taskbar for Synaptic or GDebi. Close both, then restart the lite-updates program:

/usr/bin/lite-updatesIf you used another console (terminal) and issued some apt command and got back to GUI, this happens if the apt is still running in background.
Use HTop or TaskManager to check for any apt process running.
Hope this will solve the issue.
It worked for me, everytime it happened.
