Why does Linux Lite Look Like This? - kevin.pomerantz - 03-29-2020 Hello everyone, I just installed Linux Lite OS for the first time on my old Compaq Presario CQ5210F that had Windows 7 installed. I previously installed Linux Mint 19.3 Xfce but had some problems with the Nvidia Geforce 6150SE nForce 430 video card crashing occasionally. I figured Linux Lite OS might be a better distribution for this old computer given that the Nvidia driver 304.137 appears to be unsupported now. Anyway, I boot up Linux Lite for the first time and this is the desktop environment. I'm new to Linux and I'm wondering why the desktop looks like an old Windows 95 lookalike. Can someone give me an explanation for this? Thanks in advance. ![]() Re: Why does Linux Lite Look Like This? - Valtam - 03-30-2020 What is the output of: Code: df -h Re: Why does Linux Lite Look Like This? - kevin.pomerantz - 03-30-2020 (03-30-2020, 12:41 AM)Jerry link Wrote: What is the output of: Code: Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on Re: Why does Linux Lite Look Like This? - Valtam - 03-30-2020 Your / mount point is on /dev/sda7 Do a reinstall and make sure your mount point is on /dev/sda1 There's no need for a separate /home. When you do your reinstall, don't set a mount point for home. Just put it down as a learning thing ![]() Re: Why does Linux Lite Look Like This? - kevin.pomerantz - 03-30-2020 Thanks that fixed it. I appreciate the quick reply! I'm excited to use Linux Lite now ![]() Re: Why does Linux Lite Look Like This? - Valtam - 03-30-2020 Fantastic ![]() |
