Performance mode setup - MS - 07-23-2019

Hey [member=2]Jerry[/member], I found THIS page telling how to switch Ubuntu mode of operation into performance orientated, changing from the apparently default powersaving one. I think the program listed at the end - the 'indicator-cpufreq' - could come as default install on the distro, if fully compatible, to help people choose the performance mode more easily. If that makes better sense and does work, that is.

Re: Performance mode setup - Valtam - 07-23-2019

Given that this is already a feature in Windows, I will add it into 4.6 A good and fair suggestion, thank you.

[member=2]Jerry[/member], have you considered making the 'Performance' mode default?

No, with something like this, people need to choose for themselves. Your suggestion did make it into 4.6

Re: Performance mode setup - MS - 07-29-2019

I understand. Majority, though, is not going to notice or think about it, but what they would notice instead, is the speed of computation, including perhaps the efficiency of web browser function.

EDIT:

Maybe this could be negotiated via the Lite Welcome screen?

PS:

Having checked up on the 'xfce4-cpufreq-plugin', I think it is less user friendly and compact, compared to the 'indicator-cpufreq'. Besides, the tray icon for the 'xfce4' version is rather messy, aesthetically speaking.
