Kernel 5.1 - BarryVG - 06-13-2019
Seen notices kernel 5.0 is reaching end of life and should update to kernel 5.1 Should do this?

I did, Having absolutely no problems with the new Kernel 5.1
I receive Test updates - New Proposed Updates.
I did this to help further along Linux lite Build.
Which in turn helps keep a Stable Platform
by Reporting Bug Fixes.

Ever since installing kernel 5.1 when I suspend my laptop and log back in with my password my keyboard goes dead and I have to use the System Information tool to refresh my devices so that it works again and there was a huge lag on bootup after installing the 5.1 kernel (which has somewhat been remedied by updates and maintenance with the Lite Tweaks tool. I have tried to revert back to the 4.15.xx series kernel but have not been able to. My laptop is a Dell inspiron 17R 5720 with an i7-3612QM CPU @ 2.10GHz (quad-core).

In the Kernel of # 5 Which I installed at the synaptic package manager my self.
Linux-headers-linuxlite-5.1.0
Linux-image-linuxlite-5.10
Linux-image-5.0.0-signed kernel image 0111-oem
Linux-image 5.0.0-18 generic
Linux-modules-5.0.0-18 generic
Linux-module-extra 5.0.0-18
All are signed kernels.
I am using a desktop computer.
I hope that this information helps.
All of the kernel that i have installed is 4.1 one of them is a dummy transitional package.
When you ran the Lite Tweaks Tool : Did you check the Kernel Remover box ?
That may explain why you do not have Kernel 4.1.
The only Items that I check mark are:
Firefox Cache Log Archives Package Cache Thumbnail Catch

You don't need Kernel 5.1 According to Notebook Review, your laptop is circa 2012. Why did you install it?

An Idea thru the Synaptic Package Manager: ' Laptop '
laptop-mode-tools 1.71-2ubuntu1 : Tools for Power Savings based on battery/AC status :
aptop mode is a Linux kernel feature that allows your laptop to save
considerable power, by allowing the hard drive to spin down for longer
periods of time. This package contains the userland scripts that are
needed to enable laptop mode.
It includes support for automatically enabling laptop mode when the
computer is working on batteries. It also supports various other power
management features, such as starting and stopping daemons depending on
power mode, automatically hibernating if battery levels are too low, and
adjusting terminal blanking and X11 screen blanking
laptop-mode-tools uses the Linux kernel's Laptop Mode feature and thus
is also used on Desktops and Servers to conserve power.
You will have to change to the MAIN Server for Updates.

While we're on the subject, is it necessary to install point releases? I use Ukuu Update Utility and point releases seem to be an option. I'm currently on 5.1.14 kernel.

I installed the 5.1.0 kernel because I have kernel versions higher than that on my other 2 older netbooks (running a different Linux OS) and they run absolutely wonderfully with the newer kernel installed, so I just thought I was doing the right thing by upgrading my kernel in Linux Lite 4.4. I have a new solid state hard drive in my laptop... I will say I think there is some to quite a bit of improvement in my resource usage with the new kernel... unless that's just me thinking that...??

Kernels react differently, to different hardware. It will just be a case of finding one that hits the sweet spot in your pc, and that certainly does not always mean the latest is the greatest.
