upgrading from 2.2 to 3 - esoteric - 06-01-2019 Hello all, My husband is using linuxlite 2.2 and I know it needs to be upgraded. Is it OK to upgrade to 3? I usually prefer to do fresh installs but that would be quite inconvenient right now. What is the best way to upgrade? I have not done a major upgrade for years. Any suggestions and how to are welcome. Thank you. esoteric Re: upgrading from 2.2 to 3 - firenice03 - 06-01-2019 [member=4869]esoteric[/member] LL 3.x is fine to upgrade to.. Its supported thru April 2021.. I would, if this is a 32bit system.. Install the latest for the series - LL3.8 If its a 64bit you could go to the LL4.x series... Unfortunately it would be a fresh install from LL2.x to LL3.x or any Series to Series for that matter.. Upside the installs are VERY quick, you just need to ensure you back up you data appropriately and/or any other custom add-on and what nots (i.e. apps not installed from repo)... Re: upgrading from 2.2 to 3 - esoteric - 06-01-2019 Hello, Thank you so very much for the prompt answer! I thought maybe I must install. His system is a 64bit so I probably will install 4.4. Will test it out first from usb image which I already have. Yes, you are right the install is fast and easy. I just installed it on my lenova thinkpad w520. Nice distro. I will install 4.4 on 2 other machines soon as well. The slow and hard part is saving all of the files and settings, bookmarks, etc. to an external harddrive. That can take a long time or it always has in the past for me. A fresh start on the machine is good, too. Thanks for your help.
